Krasimir Kavaldjiev

Short bio­graphy: Krassimir Kavaldjiev was born in 1969 in Sliven. He gradu­ated from For­eign Lan­guages High School in his homet­own in 1988 and from Sofia Uni­ver­sity “St. Kli­ment Ohrid­ski” in French lit­er­at­ure and cul­tur­al stud­ies in 1995. He was an expert in Inter­na­tion­al Cul­tur­al Cooper­a­tion dir­ect­or­ate at the Min­istry of Cul­ture between 1995 and 2000. He spe­cial­ized man­age­ment of cul­tur­al insti­tu­tions and com­par­at­ive lit­er­at­ure in Par­is between 1999 and 2002. He worked as a trans­lat­or in vari­ous European insti­tu­tions in Brus­sels between 2009 and 2013. He has trans­lated more than thirty books from and into French. He is a mem­ber of Bul­gari­an Trans­lat­ors’ Uni­on, the Asso­ci­ation of Bel­gian Fic­tion Trans­lat­ors and the Bel­gian Fran­co­phone PEN Cen­ter.

Ivanka Tomova

Field of work:  Trans­la­tion from Eng­lish into Bul­gari­an of fic­tion and non-fiction books

Short bio­graphy: I stud­ied Eng­lish Lan­guage and Lit­er­at­ure at Sofia Uni­ver­sity. My first job after gradu­ation was with the Bul­gari­an Tele­graph Agency. After that I worked as an edit­or for a lit­er­ary magazine pub­lished by the Uni­on of Bul­gari­an Writers. Later I joined Petar Ber­on Pub­lish­ing House and since 2001 I have been work­ing for CIELA Pub­lish­ers.

Short bio­graphy: Hristo Pop­ov, born in 1940 in Deb­nevo, stud­ied Slavic Philo­logy in Sofia. He worked as an edit­or for Bul­gari­an Nation­al Radio. From 2003 to 2005 he was Chief Sec­ret­ary of the Bul­gari­an Trans­lat­ors’ Uni­on. Hristo Pop­ov is an edit­or­i­al mem­ber of the journ­al for for­eign lit­er­at­ure and the art of trans­la­tion, Pan­or­ama. He trans­lates lyr­ics from the Slavic lan­guages into Bul­gari­an.

Gancho Savov Ganchev

Field of work: fic­tion

Short bio­graphy: Born in 1930 in Per­nik. Slavon­ic stud­ies in former Jugoslavia. He has worked in pub­lish­ing houses, media and Bul­gari­an Academy of Sci­ence. From 1974 to 1985 he was a polit­ic­al pris­on­er. He became an edit­or in media after his rehab­il­it­a­tion in 1990. 1995–1996 – chief edit­or of Pan­or­ama magazine, 1996–1998 – pres­id­ent of Bul­gari­an Trans­lat­ors’ Uni­on. After 1997 – teaches South Slav lit­er­at­ure, the­ory and trans­la­tion prac­tice etc. in Chair of Slavon­ic in Veliko Tirnovo Uni­ver­sity.

  • 2012 – world lit­er­at­ure award “Moth­er of God Three Armed” for pop­ular­iz­a­tion of Ser­bi­an lit­er­at­ure, etc.
